With college on in full swing, students have loads planned for the coming year. There's a new batch of eager eyed junior college kids and a batch of TY students who have to decide their future course of action. And then, all those students in between! What are the decisions and the plans that these students have? Here's a peak into their minds, to find out what it is that they have planned for the year ahead of them.
Says Rupali Khandelwal, an 11th standard student, "It’s my first year in college, the first time that my life is not ruled by a strict timetable and homework schedule. It's fun! I want to make the most of it. Freak out, party, bunk lectures! After all, you are young but once, so let's live it up!"
Her friend, Akshay Mehta adds, "College life is meant to be lived up to! This is the time we can have the most fun. Of course, that's not to say that studies take a back seat, but for now, all we wanna do is have some fun!"
Aakansha Mehra, a 12th standard student says, "This year I take my board exams, and I want to do really well. I've had my share of fun in the 11th, and this is not to say that I'm not having fun now. It's just that I'm so busy with classes the whole day, the only time I get to unwind is in the evening. Then, I just hang out with friends and have a great time. Next year I can chill out again. For now, I have to hit the grind!"
Sudarshan Bhatt opines, "Well, with the boards looming ahead studies can't be far behind. But the time for that will be at the end of the year! Since Economics is my weak subject, I'll have to attend all those lectures rather seriously. However, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! I plan to go camping with my group sometime in the holidays; we've already started making plans for that! "
First year student Aditi Deshpande says, "College timings are early morning, so I plan to take up a job and earn some pocket money. It's boring to sit around doing nothing."
Kunal Kaul is of the opinion that these are the years, which should not be wasted away. "I'm busy with computer classes in the mornings, and I work part time in the evenings. College? Who goes there anyway?!"
The second year students think along the same lines too. It's either work or youth organizations like AISEC or Rotract that keep them busy. Says Rupali Shah, "E-commerce is the buzzword today, and I've taken up a course, so that by the time I am a graduate, I also have a diploma in E-commerce. That'll give me a head start in the industry. I'm also an active member of AISEC, and those meetings and parties keep me occupied."
Sumitra Shenoy is keen on doing her CS. "I've joined the CS foundation course, and by next year will do my intermediate. That way it'll take me lesser time to complete my CS and I can hopefully start working sooner."
For the third year students, it's decision time! They are going to be out of college and will have to decide what subject to take up for Post Graduation. Nitin Tandon says, "It's an MBA for me. I'll be taking the CET and have to start preparing for that as well as for my final board exams. Leisure time will be spent on the net gathering information regarding education in UK, preferably."
Sunita Patil says, "I want to become a TV journalist and have to decide where to apply. I have time to look around and find out some information. This year I have to study hard and do well in my boards, that's my main aim for this year!"
As for the engineering students, well, they have one more year to go before they decide whether they want to try out for the IIMs!
